What to expect for the FENSA Skills Card Knowledge Assessment for MTC

A FENSA Skills Card provides evidence an individual is competent as an Installer, a Surveyor, or both an Installer and a Surveyor. It can help you meet the MTC requirement of your FENSA application if you do not have evidence of previously achieved MTC for at least 1 Installer and 1 Surveyor.

To qualify for the card an individual must pass both an online assessment and an onsite assessment. This page contains information about the FENSA Skills Card Knowledge Assessment which individuals complete online.

Guidance on taking your FENSA Skills Card Knowledge Assessment

The FENSA Skills Card Knowledge Assessment is taken online and can be attempted a total of four times. In order to pass the assessment you'll need to score at least 75%. If you are unsuccessful on your first two attempts, simply contact us by replying to the email containing the original assessment link and we'll send you a new passcode allowing you an additional two attempts.

We recommend that when you sit down to do your FENSA Skills Card Knowledge Assessment, you find somewhere quiet with minimal distractions so you can concentrate.

You have three hours to complete the assessment but very rarely is this needed. Take your time reading all of the questions. We will always let you know if there is more than one answer required to correctly answer the question.

The relevant documents listed on this page contain information that will assist you in preparing for your assessment. You may use these as reference materials during your assessment as well as any relevant Building Regulations Approved documents. Learning where you can find answers will help you in your day-to-day work.

If you require assistance reading the questions, arrange this with your assistant before you open your assessment.
